The system was originally developed with the aim to remotely control the Icom IC-706 (and later the kenwood TS-480) over the internet. These radios have detatchable control panels and the idea was to extend the cord between the radio and the panel using TCP/IP (Internet).

Another ‘must’ was to get rid of the PC, especially at the far (radio) end. No more hassle with soundcards, Skype or other PC-software. When you press the Power button on the panel, the radio comes to life at the remote side and soun and panel info flows across the internet between the pair of RRC-1258:s. The technic is the same as modern SIP-based IP telephones + a little extra. The look and feel of the panel is the same as if the panel was directly connected to the radio.

Всемирный день борьбы с ВИЧ/СПИДом отмечается в любительском эфире

Начиная с 1988 года, ежегодно 1 декабря отмечается Всемирный день борьбы со СПИДом — это день, когда люди всей планеты объединяют свои усилия для достижения единой цели. Эта цель — повышение уровня информированности в области борьбы с ВИЧ и выражение на глобальном уровне всеобщей солидарности с теми, кто живет с ВИЧ. Но День борьбы со СПИДом — это не только деятельность в области повышения уровня информированности. Его проведение позволяет на глобальном уровне обратиться с призывом к правительствам и лидерам сдержать обещания в части борьбы со СПИДом, а также продемонстрировать уровень приверженности и масштабы деятельности в области борьбы со СПИДом.

В 2001 году главы государств и представители правительств 189 государств собрались на первой в истории специальной сессии Генеральной Ассамблеи Организации Объединенных Наций по ВИЧ/СПИДу. Они единодушно приняли Декларацию о приверженности делу борьбы с ВИЧ/СПИДом, признав, что эпидемия СПИДа представляет собой «глобальную чрезвычайную ситуацию и одну из самых серьезных угроз жизни и достоинству человека».

ЮНЭЙДС призывает всех радиолюбителей отметить Всемирный день борьбы с ВИЧ/СПИДом своей активностью на любительских диапазонах.

C 1 по 7 декабря 2009 года из штаб-квартиры ЮНЭЙДС в Женеве будет работать любительская радиостанция со специальным позывным 4U1AIDS.

Радиолюбительский диплом «Всемирный день борьбы с ВИЧ/СПИДом 2009»

Диплом будет выдаваться радиолюбителям, которые с 1 по 7 декабря 2009 г. проведут радиосвязи с 4U1AIDS на трех любительских диапазонах.

Радиолюбителям, проведшим радиосвязи с 4U1AIDS на пяти диапазонах будет выдаваться специальный вымпел от ЮНЭЙДС.

За каждую радиосвязь с радиостанцией 4U1AIDS будет отправлена специальная QSL карточка.

Awareness about AIDS and HIV through the Amateur Radio.

According to UNAIDS estimates, there were 33 million people living with HIV in 2007, including 2 million children. In 2007 some 2.7 million people became newly infected with the virus and around 2 million people died of AIDS related illnesses.

Most people living with HIV are in developing countries; however HIV affects people in every country and poses a huge global challenge to humanity.

Started on 1st December 1988, World AIDS Day is about increasing awareness, improving education and reducing stigma and discrimination around HIV. World AIDS Day is an important reminder that HIV is still one of the leading caused of death globally and that there are many challenges still to overcome.

The special amateur radio station 4U1AIDS will operate from UNAIDS headquarters in Geneva from 1-7 December 2009 and will be broadcast all over the world via the amateur radio network.

We invite people to observe the World AIDS Day and demonstrate global HIV awareness.

International World Aids Day 2009 Amateur Radio Certificate

Those amateur radio stations which have a radio contacts with 4U1AIDS on any 3 amateur radio bands, will awarded a special commemorative certificate “World AIDS Day Award”.

Amateur radio stations that have radio contact with 4U1AIDS on 5 amateur radio bands will be awarded a special commemorative UNAIDS pennant.

Special QSL card

For each radio contact with 4U1AIDS a special QSL card will be sent.
