Reform of call sign system came in Russia

Two day’s ago I’ve worked with the  Saint Petersburg amateur radio station on “Echo-link”. His call sign was really surprised me. It was UH1AAC (novice class call sign). Another one was UA8AA (from UA9X region) also sounds very strange.
