SMS DX ALERT F.A.Q.

Our SMS service is an innovative way to assist radio amateurs and enthusiasts in making contact with other radio amateurs in rare, sought-after locations

Using our own dedicated network of global ‘skimmer’ receivers, we constantly monitor and log the reception of amateur radio stations on the HF and VHF bands.

We then check each received callsign to see if any of our website members are seeking a QSO with that specific station, DXCC, gridsquare or IOTA zone. If we find a match, then we immediately send out a text message alert to that member, so that they can attempt to make a QSO

Our service is not foolproof, but it can greatly increase the user’s chance of making contact with a sought-after entity – which means a faster route to meeting the requirements for award of DXCC, WAS, WAC, FFMA and IOTA

Members can define specific conditions for each text alert, such as DXCC entity, band of operation, mode, and continent where the signal has been ‘spotted’

It is important to understand that we are not a DX spot cluster. We neither publish nor retain details of callsigns that our skimmers have received. We process the received data in real-time and discard it after we have sent out text alerts to our members

Our service does not use so-called ‘free’ SMS services. These are simply not reliable or fast enough for our professional needs. We use an advanced SMS delivery service, with multiple redundancy. This means that we can reliably deliver our text alerts to more than 880 mobile networks throughout the world

Our service is free of set-up charge, and there is no monthly subscription charge. You only pay for the SMS messages that we send to you. There is no minimum usage requirement per month, and unused message credits are carried over to the following month. You can easily buy or top-up your message credits from this web-site, with Paypal or credit/debit card payment.
