To resolve this QSK problem I decided to replace the slower mechanical T/R relay in the Henry 2K-4 with high speed Gigavac model GH1-HAM (datasheet) 5KW RF 6ms 12VDC SPDT vacuum relays. Not only will this resolve the issue of having the IC-7700 transmitting into an open circuit every time I key the transmitter, it will also allow the amplifier to run full QSK break-in. I found the GH1 vacuum relays actually switched in 3ms. The 6ms is the manufacture’s worse case value.

Hello friend: thank you for the post. I was wondering if you could help me with a project. I’m using a very similar relays on a amplifier I built using the BFL 188 XR transistors. I’m needing to connect to relays together. One smaller relay is being used to activate the god relay / or ceramic relay which is basically the same as the ones in your photo. This is being used as the push to transmit, and of course needs to be able to withstand a lot of heat. The Amplifier has four of these BFL 188 XR inside and is working great. I need to make sure that the radio is out of the receive Mode before it transmitted. This is why I’m running some relays in series. I wasn’t exactly sure how to wire this ceramic relay. If you have some diagrams on relay sequencing and do not mind sharing him I would greatly appreciate it. Currently I am not able to find much information on the Internet and sometime in the future I plan on doing a video and posting it to YouTube. I’m hoping this will help other radio enthusiast. Please feel free to email me .
