If you do lots of experimenting with whip type antennas, here is an idea for a unique, simple and inexpensive method for mounting them!
The Simpson Strong Tie "T" (aka hurricane connector) runs less than $5 at Home Depot or Lowes and already comes with two 1/2" holes predrilled. Just bend (or use as is for horizontal dipole) and install CB 3/8" connectors and go!
The V beam mount (shown...
Static Bleeder for Any Antenna
by Phil Salas – AD5X
Many antennas don’t have a means of bleeding off static build-up. This includes the popular Hustler BTV-series of verticals, dipoles without transformer-type baluns, and many other antennas. While this is typically not much of a problem, I am always concerned about possibly damaging my antenna analyzer when I first connect it to an antenna....
The inductor calculator presented on this page is unique in that it employs the n=0 sheath helix waveguide mode to determine the inductance of a coil, irrespective of its electrical length. This allows for more accurate inductance predictions at high frequencies. Furthermore, the calculator closely follows the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) methodology for applying round...
There an issue of using YAESU "FT857d" transceiver CAT control in conjunction with the YAESU antenna tuner "FC40". It controlled through the CAT. Thus it is not possible to use the CAT together (example with E-LOGBOOK or other devices) through the same CAT Port.
While developing "FT857d" transceiver the YAESU engineers have envisaged a baypass for this problem by additional CAT port via the microphone...
I use separate phased Beverage (note the capitalization, this is a man's name!) arrays on 160M, 80M and 40M. (hey... why do u refer to 80M as 75M??? 300 divided by 3.75 = 80 !!! Or have ur SS interests caused to to forget about (80M!) freqs below 3900 kHz?) If u are planning to use a simple Beverage antenna, as opposed to phased Beverages, u can certainly use a 580 foot Beverage on both 80 and 160....
