(ARCDXC) AMATEUR RADIO CONTEST DX CLUB – has existed since 2014. Located at the UN International Centre (VIC) in Vienna, Austria. Daily actively works on the amateur radio bands.
The station’s achievements include many prestigious diplomas and awards. In 2018, the club was nominated and received a prestigious “Guinness Book of Records” award.
Behind the success of our club is the colossal work of the team, which spends strength, energy, own funds on the arrangement of the club and its further development and activities. Without such a significant contribution from members, the club simply could not exist. Over the years, great success has been achieved in the Worldwide contest’s. By personal donations and help, expensive equipment was purchased and the station was fully equipped and refurbished.
The club is not only a hobby, but serious work with the members of the club in improving the radio operators skills, knowledge increase in the field of radio, electronics, as well as regular drills in the event of natural and man-made disasters. In its daily work, the Club is guided by the rules and regulations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The internal rules of the UN organizations, as well as the rules of the International Union of Radio Amateurs (IARU).In case of emergencies, the club has developed an emergency plan, which describes in detail all steps in case of such unforeseen circumstances. The club is an important element in organizing such events in case of emergencies.
Now the club continues to function successfully but has entered a period of severe turbulence. The Internal Security Service informed us in an ultimatum that all the antenna systems of the club on the roof of the UN building in Vienna do not comply with new fire safety rules and other standards and will be dismantled by the VIC building maintenance service by the end of March 2021.
Reinstalling the antennas will take a lot of time, as well as huge efforts and financial costs, which the club does not have. In addition, the club itself does not have the rights to independently update the antennas. This must be done by a company certified by the UN in Vienna and fully authorized to do so. This company must conduct an expertise, draw up project documentation in accordance with all standards and carry out a set of works at the expense of the club.
The club is not a commercial organization and is not engaged in any commercial activity. Moreover, the club refused to charge membership fees from their club members. The club is a public organization and, as noted above, is funded by personal donations from club members.
The club is voluntary and will gratefully accept any donation to support the club and cover the costs of the work described above. The donation amount can be anything and will be gratefully accepted.
