\u201cYaesu\u201d is frantically developing a replacement for the \u201cFT-897\u2033 as one of the front panel components is being \u201cEnd of Life\u201d from the manufacturer. They do not have many components stockpiled, around 200 will go into new radios that they are producing, and leave a few of the parts for replacement purposes.<\/p>\n

I was more amazed they did not have the successor further along in development. Our \u2018reliable source\u2019 did mention the new rig will be more platform based so I would not be surprised that the 8*7 line will all be refreshed at some point which is long in the tooth.<\/p>\n

\u201cKenwood\u201d will have a refresh to the \u201cTS-590\u2033 by Christmas time. Our \u2018reliable source\u2019 was cagey about the details but he mentioned it when we were discussing IQ ports and pan-adapters. I do not think they will go full SDR but rather give more access to the receiver on an already great rig.<\/p>\n

\u201cElad\u201d had a really good showing, many I overheard were there because they read it on Sparky\u2019s Blog. They are working on a QRO version of their rig, and getting the software to work with more rigs. The idea being a receiver upgrade and still use your boat anchor to transmit.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlfa Spid\u201d had a prototype of a mid tower rotor with 0.01\u00b0 rotor accuracy. Was impressive to see up front, weld marks and all.<\/p>\n
